उन्हापासून बचाव करण्यासाठी त्या व्यक्तीने हातातल्या कागदपत्रांचा आडोसा केला होता. वडिलांची त्या व्यक्तीकडे नजर गेली. वडिलांना क्षणभर डोळ्यावर विश्वास बसेना. वडिल रांग सोडून त्या व्यक्तीकडे गेले आणि जयभीम करून म्हणाले “भैय्यासाहेब माझा नंबर आता लवकरच येईल तुम्ही माझ्या जागेवर उभे राहा मी ईथे थांबतो.” यावर त्या व्यक्तीने सुद्धा जयभीम केला आणि म्हणाले “नको, सगळेच शिस्तीत रांगेत उभे आहेत. आपण सुद्धा शिस्त, नियम पाळले पाहिजेत.” ती व्यक्ती होती घटनाकार डॉ.बाबासाहेब आंबेडकरांचे पुत्र भैय्यासाहेब अर्थात यशवंतराव भीमराव आंबेडकर. त्यांचा हा संवाद आसपास उभ्या असणाऱ्या लोकांनी ऐकला. रांगेत उभा राहणारी ही व्यक्ती डॉ.बाबासाहेब आंबेडकरांचा मुलगा आहे हे समजल्यवर अनेकांनी त्यांना रांगेत उभे न राहता थेट पुढे जाण्याची विनंती केली पण भैय्यासाहेबांनी ती विनंती अमान्य केली आणि रांगेतच उभे राहिले. त्यांनी नियमभंग केला नाही. स्वतःच्या बापाच्या कर्तृत्वाचा गैरफायदा घेतला नाही.
आज लोक नेत्यांशी जवळकिचा लाभ घेऊन लोक सर्रास नियमभंग करत असतात पण भैय्यासाहेबांनी मात्र घटनाकाराचा मुलगा म्हणून गैरफायदा घेतला नाही. ते अखेरपर्यंत सामान्य माणसासारखे जगले. काँग्रेस सोबत युती करून त्यांना पदरात बरचं काही पाडता आलं असत. अनेक दिग्गज आरपीआय नेते काँग्रेससोबत तडजोड करत असताना भैय्यासाहेब त्या वाटेला गेले नाहीत. आरपीआय नेते काँग्रेससोबत तडजोड करून पदरात मान, मरताब, पद, प्रतिष्ठा पाडून घेत असताना भैय्यासाहेबांनी मात्र आंबेडकरवादी जनतेला सोबत घेऊन डॉ.बाबासाहेब आंबेडकरांचे चैत्यभूमी स्मारक निर्माण केले. आज हे स्मारक देशातली कोट्यवधी लोकांची उर्जाभूमी बनले आहे. दलित पँथरच्या युवकांना भैय्यासाहेब म्हणजे मोठा आधारस्तंभ होता. पंथरचे युवक अनेकदा भैययसाहेबांचे मार्गदर्शन घेत असत.
आंबेडकर हे नाव बदनाम झाल्याशिवाय आपलं राजकारण यशस्वी होणार नाही या विचारातून अनेकांनी भैय्यासाहेबांना बदनाम करण्याचा प्रयत्न केला. स्वतःवर पक्षपातीपणाचा आरोप होऊ नये म्हणून बाबासाहेब स्वतःच्या या प्रिय मुलाशी काही वेळेस कठोरपणे वागले पण तरीही बाबासाहेबांचे आपल्या या मुलावर निस्सीम प्रेम आणि विश्वास होता. त्या प्रेमाची आणि विश्वासाची तुलना केवळ शिवाजी महाराज व संभाजी महाराज या पिता-पुत्रातील प्रेमाशी केली जाऊ शकते.
आज भैय्यासाहेबांची जयंती आहे. प्रज्ञासूर्याच्या या थोर पुत्रास विनम्र अभिवादन!
