अग्निदिव्यातील साथी !
आंबेडकरी चळवळीची आजची स्थिती आणि स्वरूप उत्साहवर्धक आणि आश्वासक नसेलही। पण डॉ बाबासाहेब आंबेडकर यांच्या ‘मिशन’ चा वसा घेतलेल्या लाखो इमानी आणि प्रामाणिक भीमसैनिकांसाठी ती चळवळ जीव की प्राण आहे। ‘जागृतीचा विस्तव विझू देऊ नका’ हा बाबासाहेबांचा आदेश शिरसावंद्य मानणारी आंबेडकरी चळवळ म्हणजे साक्षात अग्निदिव्य आहे। घनघोर संघर्ष, त्याग, बलीदानाच्या तयारीनेच त्यात उडी घ्यावी लागते।
1978 ते 1994. मराठवाडा विद्यापीठ नामांतराचा प्रश्न हा आपल्या मुक्तीदात्याच्या प्रतिष्ठेचा मुद्दा बनलेला होता। तब्बल 16 वर्षे निरंतर संघर्ष करून त्याची तीव्रता संपू न देणे ही काही साधी सुधी गोष्ट नव्हे। तो प्रश्न अनिर्णित अवस्थेत सोडून दिला असता तर पराभूत समाज असे लांच्छन पुढच्या आंबेडकरी पिढ्यावर बसले असते। पण हजारो पँथर्स आणि भीमसैनिकांनी सरकारची दमनशाही सोसत घर दार,संसाराची तमा न बाळगता ती संभाव्य नामुष्की टाळली आणि नामांतराची लढाई अखेर जिंकलीच।
त्या ऐतिहासिक लढ्यात झोकून दिलेल्या असंख्य भीमसैनिकांपैकी मीही एक आहे। त्या संघर्ष पर्वातच सुनंदा ही माझी सहचारिणी आणि आंबेडकरी चळवळीच्या अग्निदिव्याचा एक भाग बनली। अन माझ्यासोबत तीही धगधगती ‘चळवळ’ जगली।
1988 मध्ये एअर इंडियाच्या सेंटॉर हॉटेलमधील कायम स्वरूपी नोकरी गमावली…..त्यानंतर पत्रकारितेतही नोकऱ्यातील बदल, त्यातून वाट्याला आलेली अस्थिरता आणि मालकीच्या घराअभावी अनेकदा करावी लागलेली स्थळांतरे यामुळे कमालीची ससेहोलपट झाली।
1979 च्या ऐतिहासिक लॉंगमार्चनंतर मराठवाडा विद्यापीठ नामांतरवादी कृती समिती, दलित मुक्ती सेना- दलित, मुस्लिम अल्पसंख्याक सुरक्षा महासंघ, रिडल्सचे आंदोलन, भारतीय दलित पँथर, एकीकृत रिपब्लिकन पक्ष अशा वाटचालीत समर्पणाच्या भावनेतून सहभाग,योगदान देत महत्वपूर्ण जबाबदाऱ्या पेलल्या। प्रा जोगेंद्र कवाडे, रामदास आठवले या नेत्यांसोबत काम केले। तर, तीन दशकांच्या पत्रकारितेत महानगर, आज दिनांक, सांज दिनांक, सामना, चित्रलेखा, लोकनायक, देशोन्नती असा माझा प्रवास झाला।
चळवळीत आणि पत्रकारितेतही अनेक स्थित्यंतरे वाट्याला आली। पण कमालीची अनिश्चितता आणि अस्थिरतेच्या फेऱ्यात सापडूनही सारे विनातक्रार सोसत सुनंदा हिने मला न डगमगता एका निग्रहाने साथ दिली। त्यामुळेच संघर्षमय आंबेडकरी चळवळीपासून पत्रकारितेपर्यंतचा माझा प्रवास सुकर झाला।
