संग्राम पगारे : झंजावाताचा साक्षीदार

संग्राम पगारे. सध्या मुक्काम येवला आणि पुणे. हिंदुस्तान पेट्रोलियमचा माजी कर्मचारी.
पँथरच्या फाटाफुटीनंतर भाई संगारे यांचा एक झुंजार पँथर आणि लॉंगमार्चनंतर दिवसागणिक तीव्र होत गेलेल्या नामांतर आंदोलनातील सेनानी.आमचा ज्येष्ठ सहकारी. जनता पक्षाच्या मोरारजी सरकारच्या काळात केंद्रीय गृहमंत्री चरणसिंग यांची शिवाजी पार्कवरील जाहीर सभा उधळून लावणाऱ्या बिनीच्या पँथर्सपैकी एक.
मराठवाडा विद्यापीठ नामांतराचा प्रश्न तब्बल 16 वर्षे जिवंत आणि पेटता ठेवण्याचे श्रेय तत्कालीन भारतीय दलित पँथरचे नेते रामदास आठवले आणि दलित मुक्ती सेनेचे नेते प्रा जोगेंद्र कवाडे या दोघा नेत्यांनाच निर्विवादपणे जाते. पण एकाच प्रश्नावर संघर्ष केलेल्या त्या दोन संघटनांचे लढे अखेरपर्यंत समांतर चालले होते. त्यामागे नेतृत्वाची स्पर्धा अजिबात नव्हती. त्यामुळे पँथर्स आणि भीमसैनिक यांच्यात लोक पातळीवर कसलेही वाद, कटुता,संघर्ष नव्हता.
नामांतर आंदोलनात समाजवादी, पुरोगामी नेत्यांचा, संघटनांचा सहभाग सुरुवातीपासून होता. अन ती मंडळी त्या काळात पँथरचा केंद्रबिंदू असलेल्या प्रा अरुण कांबळे यांच्याभोवती गोळा झालेली होती. मात्र पुरोगामी आणि समाजवादी मंडळींचा कल आणि भर जनांदोलनापेक्षा नामांतरासाठी कागदी ठराव संमत करणाऱ्या परिषदांवर अधिक असायचा. त्या परिषदांना प्रसिद्धी वारेमाप मिळायची, पण सरकारवर परिणाम करण्याच्या दृष्टीने तशा परिषदा कुचकामी ठरत होत्या. आंदोलन तशा मवाळ स्थितीत पुढे सरकत जाणे निरर्थक ठरणारे होते.
पँथरमध्ये मतभेदाचा मुद्दा हाच बनलेला होता. त्यातून लॉंगमार्चनंतर पूर्वाश्रमीच्या भाई संगारे गटाशी संबंधीत पँथर्सनी उचल खाल्ली आणि प्रा कवाडे यांना मुंबईत आणण्यासाठी पुढाकार घेतला. त्यात Tansen Nannaware, रमाकांत गवळी, बाबुराव शेजवळ, Chintaman Gangurde, मुरली चंदन आणि Sangram Pagare Pagare यांच्यासारखे पँथर आघाडीवर होते. त्यांना त्या काळात कवाडे यांच्या नेतृत्वाखाली लढा पुढे नेण्यासाठी Shyamdada Gaikwad,युवक रिपब्लिकनचे suresh sawant, दिनेश भंडागे, बंडखोर रिपब्लिकनचे Kakasaheb Khambalkar, डॉ Harish Ahire यांचीही साथ मिळाली होती.
त्या काळात संग्राम पगारे आणि तानसेन ननावरे हे सायन कोळीवाडा येथील कर्मवीर दादासाहेब गायकवाड नगर येथे राहायचे. प्रारंभीच्या नामांतर आंदोलनाच्या पोस्टर्सवर काही काळ संग्राम पगारे यांचे नाव निमंत्रकात असायचे.नंतर नामावळीत नसला तरीही सभा, आंदोलनात त्यांचा प्रसिद्धिविन्मुख सहभाग कायम राहिला होता. पगारे यांच्याकडे त्यावेळी स्वतःची टॅक्सी होती. मग ते कवाडे यांच्या मुंबईतील वस्त्यांना भेटीवेळी ‘सारथी’ बनायचे. तसेच बऱ्याच सभा, मेळाव्याना येतांना पगारे हे कॅमेरा सोबत आणायचे. त्यामुळे नामांतर लढ्यातील शेकडो रोमांचक क्षण त्यांच्याकडील कॅमेऱ्यात बंदिस्त झालेले असतील.
काल परवा माझा हाजी मस्तान मिर्झासाहेब यांच्यासोबतचा चैत्यभूमीवरील फोटो रमाबाई कॉलनीतील अरुण रुपवते यांनी पाठवला. त्यानंतर संग्राम पगारे यांची आठवण न होणे अशक्यच होते. त्यांची आठवण भायखळा येथील भीमसैनिक Sitaram Lavhande यांनीही काढली. चैत्यभूमीवरील फोटो पाहून ते म्हणाले,’ भाई … संग्राम पगारे कुठे असतात सध्या? ते देऊ शकणार नाहीत काय आणखी फोटो?
नामांतर आंदोलनाच्या रणधुमाळीत लढ्याचे ‘धुरीण’ नियमित डायरी लिहायचे. पण तो ऐतिहासिक दस्तावेज आंबेडकरी समाजासमोर अद्याप येऊ शकला नाही.
त्यामुळे माझ्यासारख्या असंख्य भीमसैनिकांच्या नामांतर आंदोलनातील सहभागाच्या खाणाखुणा फक्त संग्राम पगारे यांचा कॅमेरा आणि मुंबई पोलिसांच्या एसीबी 1 शाखेच्या दप्तरी बंदिस्त राहिल्या आहेत!
