मनोहर कदम यांनी अनेक वर्षे संशोधन व अभ्यास करून भारतीय कामगारांचे आद्य पुढारी, भारतातील पहिल्या कामगार वृत्तपत्राचे संपादक व समाज क्रांतीकारक नारायण मेघाजी लोखंडे यांचे चरित्र १९९५ साली प्रकाशित केल्यानंतर जाणिवपुर्वक दुर्लक्षित केलेल्या आद्य कामगार चळवळीचा क्रांतिकारी इतिहास जीवंत झाला
भारतातील पहिली कामगार चळवळ महात्मा ज्योतिबा फुले यांच्या सत्यशोधक विचारप्रणालीतून रावबहादुर नारायण मेघाजी लोखंडे यांनी १८८४ साली स्थापन केली. देशात संशोधित फॅक्टरी ऍक्ट निर्माण होण्यासह आज भारतीय कामगारांना भरपगारी आठवडी रविवार सुट्टी व अनेक सोयी सुविधा प्राप्त होत आहेत त्याचे सर्व श्रेय नारायण मेघाजी लोखंडे यांना जाते.
१९२० नंतर देशात प्रस्थापित झालेल्या कामगार संघटनानी भारतीय कामगारांच्या आद्य चळवळीला विस्मृतीत टाकले होते. परंतु मनोहर कदम यांनी अनेक वर्षे संशोधन व अभ्यास करून भारतीय कामगारांचे आद्य पुढारी, भारतातील पहिल्या कामगार वृत्तपत्राचे संपादक व समाज क्रांतीकारक नारायण मेघाजी लोखंडे यांचे चरित्र १९९५ साली प्रकाशित केल्यानंतर जाणिवपुर्वक दुर्लक्षित केलेल्या आद्य कामगार चळवळीचा क्रांतिकारी इतिहास जीवंत झाला.
कामगार क्षेत्रात काम करणारे पदाधिकारी – कार्यकर्ते व अभ्यासक यांना नारायण मेघाजी लोखंडे यांचा चरित्रग्रंथ वाचल्या शिवाय व अभ्यासल्या शिवाय कामगार चळवळीत काम करणे अशक्यप्रायच आहे. त्यामुळे या चरित्र ग्रंथाच्या दोन्ही आवृत्त्या २४ वर्षांपूर्वी संपल्यानंतर व चरित्रकार मनोहर कदम यांचे सन-२००० सालीच निधन झाल्यानंतर या चरित्र ग्रंथाची प्रचंड मागणी लक्षात घेता महाराष्ट्र राज्य मागासवर्गीय विद्युत कर्मचारी संघटनेने या चरित्र ग्रंथाचे प्रकाशन तिसऱ्या आवृत्तीच्या स्वरूपात केले आहे. नुकतेच या ग्रंथाचे लोकार्पण स्वतंत्र मजदूर युनियनचे राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष मा. जे. एस. पाटील साहेब यांचे हस्ते दि. १० जानेवारी रोजी औरंगाबाद येथे करण्यात आले. प्रचंड मागणी असलेल्या या चरित्र ग्रंथाची किंमत २५०/- रूपये असून स्वतंत्र मजदूर युनियनशी संलग्नित संघटना तसेच मागासवर्गीय विद्युत कर्मचारी संघटन व मागासवर्गीय वरिष्ठ अभियंता व अधिकारी संघटनेच्या सभासदांसाठी २०% सवलतीसह हा ग्रंथ २००/- रूपयांमध्ये उपलब्ध आहे.तिसरी आवृत्ती सुद्धा लवकर संपण्याची शक्यता लक्षात घेता संलग्न संघटना व या संघटनांचे सभासद यांनी या ग्रंथाची लवकरात लवकर मागणी करावी.
