आंबेडकरी चळवळीत एक अभ्यासू, कृतीशील, प्रामाणिक, निष्ठावंत, मनमिळाऊ अन् लढवय्ये, झुंजार व्यक्तिमत्व म्हणून त्यांची ओळख होती. कुठे सभा, आंदोलन, मोर्चा, अन्याय अत्याचार किंवा इतर काही असो, नगरकर सर तिथे आवर्जून उपस्थित असायचे. त्यांच्या निघून जाण्याने चळवळीची फार मोठी हानी झाली आहे.
ऍड. जगदिश सोनाजी घोडेराव (नगरकर) सरांच्या दुःखद निधनाची बातमी म्हणजे मनाला चटका लावणारी आहे. कोरोना सारख्या जीवघेण्या आजाराशी काही दिवस निकराची झुंज देत असतांना २३ एप्रिल २०२१ रोजी, रात्री ११:४५ वाजता त्यांनी सर्वांचा निरोप घेतला. केंद्रिय मंत्री नाम. रामदास आठवले साहेब, अविनाश महातेकर साहेब, दिपकभाऊ निकाळजे, डॉ. राजरत्न सदावर्तेसह अनेक मान्यवरांनी त्यांच्यासाठी प्रयत्न केले. आंबेडकरी चळवळीत एक अभ्यासू, कृतीशील, प्रामाणिक, निष्ठावंत, मनमिळाऊ अन् लढवय्ये, झुंजार व्यक्तिमत्व म्हणून त्यांची ओळख होती. कुठे सभा, आंदोलन, मोर्चा, अन्याय अत्याचार किंवा इतर काही असो, नगरकर सर तिथे आवर्जून उपस्थित असायचे. त्यांच्या निघून जाण्याने चळवळीची फार मोठी हानी झाली आहे.
शासकीय सेवेत कार्यरत असतांना नोकरीत काही अडचणी नकोत म्हणून, सेवानिवृत्तीनंतर काही मंडळी सामाजिक धार्मिक अन् राजकीय क्षेत्रात प्रवेश करुन सेवानिवृत्तीनंतरचा काळ घालवतात. पण, त्याला काही मंडळी अपवाद असतात त्यापैकी एक म्हणजे ऍड. जगदिश नगरकर. बृहन्मुंबई महानगरपालिकेची प्रामाणिकपणे सेवा बजावत सामाजिक बांधिलकी अन् समाज भावना जोपासत त्यांनी चळवळीत स्वतःला झोकून घेतले. ते मुंबई महानगरपालिकेच्या विधी खात्यात सेवेत कार्यरत होते. नुकताच त्यांनी, २१ मार्च २०२१ रोजी त्यांचा सुवर्ण महोत्सवी जन्म दिवस साजरा झाला होता.
अहमदनगर जिल्ह्यात गावकुसाबाहेरील सर्वसामान्य कुटुंबांत त्यांचा जन्म झाला. कोणताही कौटुंबिक वारसा नसतांना ते आंबेडकरी चळवळीत ओढले गेले. प्रतिकुल परिस्थितीवर मात करुन मोठ्या आत्मविश्वासांने संघर्षमय यश संपादन केले. त्यांच्यातील सामाजिक आविष्कार अन् आंतरीक तळमळीमुळे अन्याय अत्याचार प्रकरणी प्रत्येक लढ्यात त्यांचा सहभाग दिसून येतो. कौटुंबिक जबाबदारीत अडकून न पडता त्यांनी सामाजिक कार्यात कधीच खंड पडू दिला नाही. त्यांचा चळवळीत सक्रिय सहभाग असूनही कोणत्या पद, प्रतिष्ठेला चिकटून न राहता त्यांनी पडद्यामागच्या सामान्य कार्यकर्त्याची भूमिका प्रामाणिकपणे अन् खंबीरपणे बजावली.
कार्यकारी अभियंता संजय गायकवाड सरांसमवेत मी कार्यरत असतांना जगदिश नगरकर सरांची ओळख झाली. त्यांच्या स्वभावातील गोडीने, तळमळीने अन् जीभेवरील माधुर्याने त्यांनी अनेक माणसे जोडली. सर्वांना सोबत घेऊन जातांना आपल्या बरोबर असणाऱ्या व्यक्तीला त्यांनी कधीच लहान असल्याची जाणीव करुन दिली नाही. त्यांनी नेहमीच सर्वांना सन्मानाची, आदराची वागणूक दिली. काही दिवसापुर्वी मी सी वार्डला कामानिमीत्त गेलो होतो. तिथे दिलीप साळुंकेंसमवेत दुसऱ्या मजल्यावर मी बोलत असतांना त्यांनी लिफ्टमधून पाहिले अन् लिफ्ट थांबवून ते भेटायला आले. आस्थेने चौकशी केली. चहा, नाष्टा करण्याची विनंती केली एवढा त्यांचा स्वभाव प्रेमळ होता. त्यांची उणीव नेहमीच जाणवत राहणार. अशा लोकप्रिय व्यक्तीमत्वाचा वारसा चालवणे हिच त्यांना भावपुर्ण आदरांजली ठरेल..!
